Sale for Recycling, from Valuation to Certificate

When a vessel reaches the end of her trading life, Marcenta arranges her sale for recycling: to a cash buyer, or directly to an approved green recycling yard.

Two routes

Cash Buyer or Green Recycling: Chosen on Price, Flag and Compliance

The right route depends on the vessel's flag, condition and position, and the owner's compliance requirements. We set both options side by side before an owner commits.

Route 1Sale to a cash buyer

Cash Buyer Sale

The vessel is sold to a specialist cash buyer, who takes her over for the last voyage and resells her to a recycling yard. Suited to owners who want a quick, single-step sale.

  • Price based on light displacement tonnage (LDT) and the recycling market on the day.
  • Delivery as-is at an agreed location, or delivered to the recycling destination.
  • Payment secured before delivery under a recycling sale contract.

Route 2Aliağa, Türkiye

Green Recycling

The vessel is sold directly to an approved yard for recycling to Hong Kong Convention and EU Ship Recycling Regulation standards. Required for EU-flagged ships, and increasingly expected by charterers, financiers and insurers.

  • Yards in Aliağa included on the EU list of approved ship recycling facilities.
  • Recycling on impermeable, drained floors with controlled handling of hazardous materials.
  • Statement of completion issued when recycling is finished.

Compliance

Paperwork Checked Before the Ship Sails, Not After

The Hong Kong Convention entered into force in June 2025. We check the documents with the owner and the yard at the start, so the sale isn't held up at delivery.
