Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Which ships and regions do you work?
Coasters, mini-bulkers and MPP vessels of 1,000–15,000 DWT in the Black Sea, Mediterranean and Red Sea, and Handysize to Ultramax (28,000–65,000 DWT) between the Continent, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the US Gulf.
Which cargoes do you handle?
Project cargo and heavy lifts, breakbulk and steel, and short-sea dry bulk such as bauxite, clinker, cement, scrap, HBI, grain and industrial minerals. On Handysize to Ultramax we fix grain, petcoke, steel, scrap and minor bulks. We do not handle containers.
How fast will I get tonnage for my cargo?
For a firm cargo with ports, quantity and laycan, a broker proposes suitable tonnage within one working day.
Does Marcenta own or operate vessels?
Marcenta does not own vessels. On most fixtures we act as broker. Under a contract of affreightment Marcenta can act as principal and commercial operator, chartering in vessels to perform it; we confirm our role in writing before anything is fixed.
Do you arrange surveys and ship recycling?
Yes. We coordinate independent surveys at load and discharge, and arrange sales for recycling to cash buyers or approved green recycling yards, including EU-listed yards in Aliağa, Türkiye.
Is anything the AI Chartering Desk tells me binding?
No. The AI Chartering Desk is a first-response service. Every quotation, match or fixture is confirmed in writing by an authorised member of the Marcenta team before it is binding.
