Ship Broker – Mini Bulk (1,000–3,000 DWT)

Role overview

Marcenta is opening a mini bulk desk covering 1,000–3,000 DWT tonnage and is looking for a Ship Broker to build it from the ground up. You'll fix and manage mini bulk vessels across short-sea and regional trades, working directly with owners, operators and cargo interests in a segment that rewards fast, hands-on brokers. Responsibilities

  • Source and fix cargo and tonnage in the 1,000–3,000 DWT mini bulk segment
  • Build and maintain a network of owners, operators and charterers active in short-sea trades
  • Negotiate freight rates, laycans and charter party terms
  • Track regional demand, bunker costs and port conditions relevant to mini bulk routes
  • Work closely with operations to ensure a clean handover post-fixture

What we are looking for

  • Experience broking or chartering small/mini bulk or short-sea tonnage
  • Existing network of owners or operators in the 1,000–3,000 DWT range is a strong plus
  • Comfortable working fast in a segment with tight laycans and thin margins
  • Entrepreneurial mindset — this is a desk to build, not join fully formed
