Marcenta Chartering & Shipping Ltd. was built on a simple premise: a shipbroker’s only asset is trust, and trust is earned one honest fixture at a time.
Our Story
Marcenta was founded in London by İlker Edessoy after years spent on both sides of the fixture table — chartering cargo for traders and representing owners’ tonnage. The pattern was always the same: brokers who padded freight to look generous, or lowballed to look fast, and clients who couldn’t tell which number was real.
Marcenta exists to be the exception. Every rate we quote is checked against the Baltic indices and bunker levels of the day, every cargo is verified before it’s circulated, and every fixture is followed through to final discharge — not abandoned at the recap.
That same discipline is why we built ShipWithMarcenta, our AI-assisted chartering desk: not to replace the broker’s judgement, but to make sure no enquiry waits until Monday morning to get a first, honest answer.
What We Stand For
We hold no tonnage of our own and take no side of a fixture we haven’t earned. Every recommendation serves the client in front of us.

Leadership
İlker founded Marcenta after a career spent chartering across Handysize to Capesize tonnage for traders, miners and owners. He built the firm around a single idea: the broker’s job is to make the right fixture obvious, not to make the biggest one look right. He continues to lead chartering strategy and owner relationships personally on Marcenta’s largest accounts.
